Racing: Fischer dominates cross country World Cup
Fischer was the dominating brand in the 09l10 cross country World Cup season. All winners of the small and large crystal globes for the various World Cup rankings were successful with the yellow equipment from Austria. A remarkable 70% of all podium placings went to Fischer athletes. The dominating Nordic number one also came first in the FIS brand statistics in all categories in impressive style.
Overall World Cup winners men/women Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer) and Petter Northug (NOR, Fischer) made it to the very top at the end of the season, winning the large crystal globe for victory in the overall World Cup.
Triumphant in all categories The fast Polish racer also came first in the overall standings in the distance and sprint disciplines. With her Tour de Ski victory and the full set of Olympic medals the 27-year-old top athlete certainly left her mark on the season.
Fischer supremacy from Scandinavia In the men's events it was Petter Northug (NOR, Fischer) who dominated the proceedings. As the most successful athlete at the Olympic Games with four medals to his name, the winner of two Olympic gold medals also won the overall World Cup in the 09l10 season. The distance World Cup also went to the 24-year-old Norwegian. It was only the sprint World Cup that he left to his brand colleague Emil Joensson (SWE, Fischer), who was the fastest man over the short distance throughout the season.
Dominant number one With their achievements, these and many other athletes played a major role in Fischer being able to once again win the FIS brand statistics in all categories. This season also saw Fischer lead its competitors by an even bigger margin than in the past.
